Number of accommodation sector establishments in the EU grew by 1/3 in a decade

In order to accommodate the growing number of travelers to Europe, the travel accommodation sector has expanded over the years. From 2016 there was a steep increase in accommodations, which peaked at a total of 618,000 properties in 2019. However, with the event of the coronavirus pandemic, this number slumped slightly in 2020 and 2021.
