International Day of Education
Education Satisfaction Varies Greatly Between Countries
January 24 marks International Day of Education, a day created by the United Nations in 2018 to celebrate the role of education in peace and development. The UN recognises education as a human right, a public good and a public responsibility.
Data from an Ipsos survey conducted in 30 countries in June and July 2025 shines a light on the way people feel about their country's education system. As our infographic shows, people in Singapore had an overwhelmingly positive view of its education system: 77 percent of the respondents rated it as good, and only 5 percent considered it to be poor. On the other end on the spectrum was Peru, where only 11 percent considered the country's education sysem to be good, while 50 percent said it was poor.
In Germany and in France, the share of people who considered their country's education system to be poor far exceeded those who considered it good: Germans were 21 percent to feel favourably about it and 45 percent unfavourably, while in France, only 19 percent were favourable, and 55 percent unfavourable.
On average, the share of people who considered their country's education system to be poor was slightly bigger: 35 percent in total, as opposed to 34 percent who rated their country's education as "good".
