Blackberry Quits Smartphone Production

BlackBerry will quit producing smartphones, according to CEO John Chen. The number of sales was down to 4 million smartphones in 2016. Back in 2011 the company that once pioneered this sector had shipped more than 50 million phones. One of the main reasons for the sharp decline is said to be BlackBerry’s reluctance to let go of physical keypads. Also, the company's management apparently neglected to see Apple’s iPhone as a serious threat to its business for too long.
