Number of Metro Riders in Washington D.C. at Selected Big Events

How can you measure the number of people attending selected public events in a big city like Washington? One possible way is to count the number of passengers that use public transportation. According to data from the Metrorail and Metrobus transit services in Washington (WMATA), the metro system got pretty busy for the so-called Women’s March on Saturday, one day after the inauguration of the 45th POTUS. This of course is just an indicator, as some attendees will have use alternative means of transport, such as pick-ups, horses or bikes.
