Public Confidence In The U.S. Economy Hits 10-Year High

Public confidence in the American economy is soaring. According to a new Pew Research Center survey, nearly six-in-ten Americans (58 percent) say the country's economic situation is very or somewhat good, the highest level recorded since the financial criris. Last year, the survey found that 44 percent of the public were upbeat about the economy.

In 2007, 50 percent of the American public were happy with the state of the economy and that nosedived to just 20 percent the following year as the financial crisis took hold. Pew found that there is no partisan divide on economic perceptions with both Republicans (61 percent) and Democrats (60 percent) saying conditions are very or somewhat good.
