Buying an Electric Car the Most Expensive

Looking to buy a new car? For those on a budget, the LPG might be your best bet. With an average purchasing price of 16,338 euros, it is indeed the cheapest. In comparison, electric cars in the Netherlands cost on average five times as much, at an average of 79,166 euros. This makes buying an electric car by far your most expensive option, although hybrid cars are not cheap either, with an average price of over 50,000 euros.

When taking a closer look at the electric car options though, breaking the bank might not be necessary in every case; After all, the A segment electric cars (the 'mini cars') come at an average price of 25,811 euros, over 50,000 cheaper than the average, while the B segment ('small cars') is not significantly more expensive at 27,772 euros. As this infographic shows, the electric car middle segment is virtually non-existent. The Tesla Model 3 release, planned for the end of 2018 in the European Union and Europe, however might be able to change this.
