Childhood

Where It's Hardest To Be A Child

Conflict, poverty and discrimination are threatening childhoods all over the world. According to the second annual End of Childhood Report released by advocacy organization Save the Children, over half of children worldwide, 1.2 billion in total, are under threat from those factors.

While the situation improved in 95 out of 175 countries in the report, the risk of an early end to childhood is still present across much of the world. The following infographic shows the ten countries where children are most and least at risk. Singapore and Slovenia are the least threatened countries, along with most of Northwest Europe. The most threatened countries are all in Africa with Niger bottom-ranked in the report.
