Senate Race

U.S. Senators Voters Like (and Don't Like)

Midterm elections are almost two weeks away with congressional hopefuls gearing up for the offensive and incumbents readying their campaigns for the home stretch. There are 35 senate seats up for grabs during this election season.

Some of the senators with the highest approval percentages are up for reelection, like Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Amy Klobuchar, who both poll at a roughly 60 percent approval rate.

At the bottom of the pack, Senator Bob Mendez, a Democrat from New Jersey, pulls the lowest approval ratings currently. Senator Mendez’s reelection bid has been plagued by scandal, after Mendez was tried on corruption charges last year. Senator McCaskkill, a Democrat from Montana, has had uninspiring poll numbers as well, with a 37 percent approval rate by recent estimates. McCaskill is in a competitive reelection race that has tightened as election day has neared. Many candidates in this midterm cycle are balancing the controversial and divisive political tone that the Trump Administration has set since assuming office.
