Boris Johnson loses his majority

Boris Johnson's government suffered a big blow in the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election at the start of August, when the Lib Dems overturned the large 2017-gained Tory majority. That win left the government with a slim working majority of just one. This afternoon, the Lib Dems have proven a source of more political peril for Johnson, with the defection of long-serving Conservative MP Dr. Phillip Lee. As our infographic shows, this means the government no longer holds a majority position.
