Allure of Amazon

Most U.S. adults are likely to buy a low-cost item from Amazon rather than go to the store, according to data compiled by CivicScience. 29 percent of adults ages 18 to 34 are “very likely” to order an item $5 or less from Amazon, whereas 51 percent of people 55 and over are “not at all likely.”

The stock for e-commerce giant had its best day on December 26, gaining more than 4 percent, after Amazon saw a record holiday shopping season this year. Compared to 2018, 60 percent more consumers sent items to an Amazon pick-up point, instead of their businesses or homes.

“This holiday season, the number of items that were delivered with Prime Free One-Day and Prime Free Same-Day Delivery nearly quadrupled compared to the same time period last holiday season, making this Amazon’s fastest holiday yet,” the company in a statement, according to CNBC, the day after Christmas.
