Everybody's Talking About Ice Bucketing

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge has gone viral and social media is buzzing, as can be seen from one of our recent Forbes features. By August 16th, the craze had been mentioned 2.2 million times on Twitter with 1.2 million videos posted on Facebook. The number of comments, posts and likes on Facebook had reached an impressive 15 million.

All of that has been paying off in donations - $11.4 million was raised by the middle of August, far more than the $1.7 million raised by the same time last year. The number of Americans suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is approximately 30,000, according to the ALS Association.
