U.S. and China Dominate the Data Center Market

The United States and China are by far the biggest revenue generators in the data center market worldwide - as is illustrated in this infographic based on estimates by Statista Market Insights. Japan, Germany and the United Kingdom follow in third to fifth place.

The data center market comprises all hardware-related expenditure by companies and the public sector used to build and maintain IT infrastructure. This includes the three major sub-sectors of servers, storage solutions and network infrastructure such as routers and switches.

As a rule, every company nowadays has its own IT infrastructure, although it can also rely on that of external providers in whole or in part. This can be done by renting capacities in data centers.
