Art Exhibitions & Museums Garner Little Interest?

May 18 is International Museums Day, a day dedicated to celebrating the crucial role museums play in cultural exchange, education and mutual understanding with people around the world.

According to data from a Statista Consumer Insights survey, a fairly low share of the population bought tickets to museums or art exhibitions in the past 12 months. Of the countries polled, China, India and Italy were among those with the highest share of respondents having purchased entrance tickets at 18 percent, 15 percent and 11 percent of online respondents, respectively. Countries such as Germany and Japan had even lower shares at just 6 percent and 5 percent.
