U.S. Prison Escapes Are In Steep Decline
After a nine day manhunt, police officers searching for two convicted killers who escaped from a New York prison are still no closer to finding the men. High profile escapes are becoming rarer in the United States. According to Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2,000 inmates managed to break out of U.S. State institutions in 2013. Back in 1993, the number or escapees was over 14,000.
