Premier League Spending Breaks £1bn

Premier League clubs this summer have collectively smashed all previous transfer spending records. Last season, total expenditure during the summer window came to a still mammoth 880 million British pounds. This figure, however, was eclipsed well before pen had even met paper on the final, traditionally last gasp, deals of the period.

Helped along by Manchester United's world record-breaking purchase of Paul Pogba from Juventus, this years total spend smashed past the billion pound mark, finally settling at a staggering 1.17 billion.
