Transfer Window Spending Smashes The Billion Barrier

This year's summer transfer window was record breaking for English soccer clubs. Deadline day moves for David Luiz and Moussa Sissoko pushed spending to £1.165 billion, breaking the existing record by more than £200m. The Premier League spent almost twice as much as second-placed Serie A (£590m) while the Bundesliga rounded off the top three (£460m). Paul Pogba's move from Juventus to Manchester United was the biggest by far, worth £89m. John Stones and Leroy Sane both moved to Manchester City for fees of £47.5 and £37 million respectively.
