Republican Voters Are Losing Interest in ACA Repeal

For a good while, repealing the Affordable Care Act (ACA) or 'Obamacare' was a key priority for the GOP and its base. Since Trump's failure to get his reforms pushed through in 2017 however, the crosshairs have been trained on other targets. Leading up to the midterms though, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell hinted at a revived attempt to eradicate the ACA if the Republican majority is held in November. Among republican voters though, it doesn't seem to be such a hot topic anymore. As a new poll by Morning Consult shows, in October this year 74 percent said that they support a partial or complete repeal of the healthcare policy. While this still represents a clear majority, it is nevertheless a marked drop from August in which 83 percent were of the same opinion.
