Man Utd Drops Out of Football’s Top Three Richest Clubs

Manchester United’s crumbling fortunes on the pitch are now being reflected in football’s financial league, according to a report from Deloitte. Even though the English champions recorded a rise in revenue to €423.8 million, they dropped out of the world’s three richest clubs for the first time in 17 years.

This can be attributed to plummeting share prices after the retirement of Alex Ferguson in addition to Bayern Munich’s tremendous success at home and abroad during the past season. Real Madrid topped the list for the ninth consecutive year with revenues of €518.9 million.

Barcelona came second on the list with €482.6 million in revenue while Bayern Munich rounded off the top three with €431.2 million. Paris Saint Germain stormed up the list to fifth place after seeing revenue almost quadruple to €398.8 million since 2010-11.
