61% of Young Republicans Support Same-Sex Marriage

When it comes to supporting gay marriage in the United States, young people are still the strongest proponents. According to Pew Research, 61 percent of Republicans aged 18 to 29 now support gay marriage in comparison to 77 percent of Democrats in the same age bracket.

However, there is still a large gap in support between younger and older generations. Support falls to 43 percent among Republicans aged 30 to 49 and 30 percent for those aged 50 to 64. It falls even further to 22 percent among those aged over 65. Support for gay marriage is much higher amongst Democrats, reaching 69 percent across all age groups.
