Black Friday

Are Holiday Season Discounts Worth It?

As Black Friday and Cyber Monday are drawing closer, numbers by Adobe for the U.S. show that discounts on a wide range of consumer products were starting to take off last week. Nowadays, many retailers start their promotional campaigns well before the official dates of the events. On Nov. 23, electronics, toys and apparel items were on average between 12 and 16 percent cheaper than they were at the beginning of October. Throughout Cyber Week (November 27 to December 1), Adobe is expecting a peak discount of 25-28 percent for the three categories, which is the same average as last year (23-30 percent).

According to the software company's forecasts, "Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 27) will be the best day to shop for sporting goods. On Black Friday (Nov. 28), shoppers will see the deepest discounts for TVs, toys, and appliances. And Cyber Monday (Dec. 1) will be the best day to shop for electronics, apparel, and computers."
