Where Tax Advisory Services Are Most in Demand

Data from Statista’s latest Consumer Insights survey shows that the use of tax advisory services varies considerably across countries. Among the 21 markets surveyed, Australia and Spain report some of the highest usage rates, with 21 percent and 20 percent of respondents, respectively, saying they had used a tax consultation service in the past 12 months. As our chart shows, uptake is also relatively high in North America – at 16 percent in the United States and 19 percent in Canada – as well as other European countries, such as Germany (18 percent). At the other end of the spectrum, Japan records the lowest share of users, at just 5 percent, well below the 21-country average of 14 percent.

Differences in demand for tax advice likely reflect variations in the complexity of national tax systems, administrative frameworks and tax rates, as well as levels of trust in public institutions.
