Independence Day By The Numbers

When it comes to celebrating Independence Day, Americans love to go outside for a barbecue, picnic, parade or fireworks display. This year, just under 65 percent of Americans will attend a barbecue or picnic, spending an average of $72.23 per household on food items. Every 4th of July, people in the United States eat 150 million hotdogs, 190 million pounds of beef and 700 million pounds of chicken. Just under 23 percent of Americans are going to purchase some form of patriotic merchandise.
