Unemployment

Are Young People More Worried About Unemployment?

Data by Statista Consumer Insights shows that young people are often worried about unemployment to a similar degree than the general public. In nations very affected by the issue, the youth interestingly worried less than adults overall, while high excess youth worry could be seen in China and Canada as well as the United Kingdom, Australia and Italy. As a tendency, youths worried more in countries with overall lower levels of concern.

Many people view unemployment as a major issue in Latin American, African and Southern European countries, the survey showed. These are all world regions which experience high unemployment rates. Across Asia, results varied, with fewer picking the issues as one of their nation's most pressing in China, Japan, South Korea, Vietnam or Singapore and more people saying they see a major problem in Indonesia, India and the Philippines.

Within Europe, Scandinavian countries stood out as more worried, as these nations have also seen unemployment rise as high as 8 or 10 percent recently. There, young people were equally or less worried than the general public in the nations surveyed.
