Global Trust In CEOs Has Evaporated

People across the world are viewing the credibility of CEOs with increasing scepticism, accoring to a new report from Edelman. It found that trust in business, institutions, governments and NGOs has evaporated in most countries. Chief executives in particular are suffering a serious dent in their credibility with only 37 percent of people in 28 countries rating them as being extremely or very credible in 2017. That's a 12 percentage point reduction on 2016.

Only 18 percent of people in Japan trust their nation's chief executives, the lowest level recorded in the report. In Germany, Italy and the UK, trust was also low at just 28 percent. The United States also doubts the trust of its company bosses with only 38 percent of people reporting that they are extremely or very credible.
