What you do
- Define domain boundaries, engineering routines and architectural guardrails (focus: backend) of the future Statista platform.
- Plan, monitor and advise on the stepwise migration approach from the existing monolith to the target architecture (event-driven, autonomous apps, cloud native).
- Actively co-develop fundamental services and solutions of target architecture in joint effort with responsible tech teams (idea to proof-of-concept).
- Consult Tech Leads in taking architecture decisions and steer architectural decision making process (ADRs).
- Define metrics, establish tooling and consult on routines for steering delivery processes and site performance and reliability.
- Host events and connect with external community for exchanging best practices.
Who you are
- Years of engineering experience in various company environments, preferably in tech-driven business models like e-commerce or media.
- Expert-level knowledge of modern tech stacks (self-contained systems, event-based architectures, aws).
- Has led operational tech teams and brings a deep understanding for the trade-offs between tech excellence and delivery accountability.
- Proficiency in proven practices for tech steering, continuous delivery, domain-driven design.
- Strong communicator, willing and able to convey architectural plans and guardrails to engineers and accountable management alike, is capable to document and communicate findings and recommendations in a clear and concise way in written and orally.
- Excellent analytical and conceptual capabilities: Can structure complex issues, strives for end-to-end understanding of issues and identifies root causes; proactively brings supporting evidence to substantiate own recommendations.
- Trusted leader: Exerts strong influence on others also in lateral leadership settings, highly regarded go-to-expert.
