Share of Africa in cobalt production worldwide 2011-2021
In 2021, Africa accounted for approximately 3.8 percent of the global cobalt production. From 2016 onwards, the share followed a downward trend. Moreover, considering the period reviewed, the highest share of the continent in the cobalt output worldwide was registered in 2013 at nearly 15.3 percent. Morocco was the leading producer of refined cobalt in Africa as of 2021.
