During a 2020 survey, leading upscale hotel brands in the United States were rated on a scale from one to six by respondents who were responsible for corporate hotel buying decisions. Ratings were based on pre-coronavirus pandemic and pandemic-related attributes. According to the survey, respondents gave the highest score to Hyatt Place, who were awarded an average score of 4.89 out of six.

Pre-pandemic attributes include strategically located properties in terms of business needs; clean, attractive & well-maintained hotels & facilities; in-room kitchens, standard room size; quality of on-property service staff; supports traveler wellness with healthy food/food/fitness/social options; safe and security standards; brand consistency; effective sales & account management staff; partnership approach to negotiating amenities, rates, & penalties; quality data and reporting; overall price/value relationship.
Pandemic-related attributes include effective communication to travel buyers; responsiveness to safety, security and sanitation concerns; ability to maintain critical operations at key locations for business needs.
The average of all 13 scores was taken for the final score.
