Panama Canal: main commodities shipped northbound 2019-2021
During fiscal year 2021, over 38 million long tons of container cargo were shipped from the Pacific Ocean to the Atlantic through the Panama Canal, making it the most important commodity transported northbound through the Canal in terms of volume that year. Petroleum and its products trailed in second, with some 4.8 million long tons transported.
