Number of HNWI's, UHNWI's and billionaires in Russia 2014-2024

The high, ultra-high, and billionaire's population in Russia grew since 2018, and a projected estimate for 2024 forecast an increase of 23 percent for the two latter groups. However, the number of billionaires in the country was not expected to rise by 2024 compared to the 2019 levels.

Average income in Russia

The average per capita monthly income in Russia has been gradually increasing year-over-year until 2019. Nonetheless, the figures saw over a 10 percent drop relative to the previous year’s mean by the first quarter of 2020, marking at roughly 31.2 thousand Russian rubles. The largest share, or roughly one quarter of the employed population in the country earned between 27 and 45 thousand Russian rubles per month in 2019.

Russia’s super rich

Only four percent of Russians reported having a monthly income of over 100 thousand Russian rubles in 2019. Among them were members of the Rothenberg family – the richest in the country by total compound assets. The family members’ total wealth, who were engaged in manufacturing, oilfield services, finance, and real estate businesses, was estimated at 5.45 billion U.S. dollars, as of July 2020. To compare, the total declared income of the president of the Russian Federation – Vladimir Putin, was measured at about 9.7 million Russian rubles in 2019.
