LNG bunkering availability in ports worldwide by region 2022
As of 2022, Europe led the way in liquified natural gas (LNG) port operations. That year, there were 23 operational ports with infrastructure for LNG vessel bunkering, seven more were planned and one was under construction. The port of Rotterdam, Europe's largest bunker port, saw its LNG sales volume increase considerably during 2019, as the maritime industry prepared to meet the demands of IMO 2020 sulfur cap by using alternative fuels.
