In 2022, Argentina recorded a growth of a third of the amount of electric vehicle sales in 2021. Most of these vehicles were hybrid electric cars, of which nearly 7,600 units were sold. Plug-in electric vehicles have also gained in popularity, with 261 battery-electric vehicle sales in 2022.

PHEV refers to plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, which function primarily using rechargeable battery packs, in combination with a petrol or diesel internal combustion engine-powered generator. BEV refers to Battery-electric vehicles, which function exclusively with rechargeable battery packs.
