Share of UK and overseas visitors to government funded museums in England 2022-2023

Between April 2022 and March 2023, residents of the United Kingdom accounted for roughly two-thirds of visitors to museums sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) in England. Over the same period, the number of overseas visitors to DCMS-sponsored museums in England exceeded 11 million, increasing sharply over the previous year but remaining below the figures recorded before the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
