Other well-known banks such as Citi, Bank of America, Scotiabank, and Wells Fargo followed closely behind with each one managing to lend or underwrite a total sum between 50 and 70 billion U.S. dollars to oil, gas, and coal companies expanding fossil fuels since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2016.
