China: number of cruise passengers by destination 2020

China has become an important market for global cruise tourism. Greater China region was the top cruise destination among Chinese tourists, amounting to around 199 thousand in 2020. There was a serious decline in Chinese passengers in global cruise tourism due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the source, the passenger statistics are provided by CLIA's ocean cruise line members, which covered over 95 per cent of the global cruise industry capacity. Additional data was also collected from non-CLIA cruise lines by CHART Management Consultants.

To serve a consistent manner, one-night cruises were excluded in the analyses.
