Number of millionaires in Africa 2011-2021
Africa was home to 136,000 thousand millionaires as of 2021. The number of high net worth individuals (HNWIs), each with net assets of one million U.S. dollars or more, increased by nearly nine percent compared to the previous year. Total private wealth in Africa amounted to 2.1 trillion U.S. dollars in 2021, slightly higher than in 2020. The wealth value measured referred to assets, such as cash, properties, and business interests, held by individuals living in each country, less liabilities.
