Distribution of primary energy in Israel 2021, by type
In 2021, Israel produced over 43 percent of its primary energy from natural gas. This energy source constituted the most common one in the country that year, followed by crude oil and petroleum products (35.7 percent) and coal and oil shale (16.2 percent). In 2009, several large natural gas reserves were discovered west of the city of Haifa.
