Main reasons among medical tourists for seeking treatment abroad as of 2023
As of 2023, it was estimated that for approximately half of medical tourists worldwide cost savings and/or access to quality health care were the main reasons for seeking medical treatment abroad. Moreover, around 40 percent of international patients traveled to receive medical care with the purpose of combining health treatment with vacation, while some 20 percent engaged in medical tourism due to shorter waiting times.
