As of May 2023, the monthly average number of information sector job openings stood at 174 thousand. Notably, there were fewer job openings in the U.S. information sector in 2020 than in the previous years. This is could be attributed due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic when companies laid off many off their employees and fewer employees were hired generally. In 2022, the job market seemed to have experienced a slight rebound with more IT job openings in the U.S. than in previous years, with around 228 thousand job openings monthly on average in 2022.
