European patent applications from Spain 2005-2021
The number of Spanish patent applications to the European Patent Office saw an overall increase over the first half of the assessed period, peaking at almost 2,560 applications in 2010. The positive trend was interrupted by a sharp decline in 2018, when it fell to 1,781 patent applications. According to the most recent data, in 2021 there were 1,954 patent applications filed at the EPO from Spain.
