The communication technology company Ericsson seized the top spot of the ranking of the 20 Stockholm-based companies with the highest turnover in 2022. H&M's turnover reached 232 billion Swedish kronor, followed by the fashion company Hennes&Mauritz (H&M) with a turnover of 187 billion Swedish kronor. Ranked third was the construction and development company Skanska AB, with a turnover of 160 billion Swedish kronor.

Ericsson was founded in Stockholm in 1876 by Lars Magnus Ericsson, who started the business as a telegraph repair shop, and later started making his own telephones. Over time the business advanced and eventually developed into a new telephone network. In the late 1980’s the company and its telephone network expanded to markets outside of Sweden, and later even outside of Europe. Nowadays the company has employees all over the world.
