As of September 2022, the IT/ITES/Electronic/Hardware/Semiconductor SEZs amounted to 61 percent of the total share of Special Economic Zones throughout the country.
Special Economic Zones (SEZs) are regions within the country that have, geographically, more liberal economic laws to promote Foreign Direct Investments from foreign investors as compared to the domestic law of the land. SEZs have their own specific set of laws.
