Registered light passenger vehicles in India FY 2019 by state
The Indian state of Maharashtra had the highest number of registered light passenger vehicles in India, at around 974 thousand vehicles in fiscal year 2019. India’s automotive market was dominated by two-wheelers and passenger vehicles. Small and mid-sized car sales accounted for about 13 percent of around 2.9 million vehicles in terms of sales. Two-wheeler sales on the other hand had a share of over 80 percent.
