This statistic shows the safety and security ranking of the Nordic countries in the Travel & Tourism Competitiveness Index (TTCI) in 2017. Safety and security in this statistic consists of business costs of crime and violence, reliability of police services, business costs of terrorism, index for terrorism incidence and homicide rate. Safety and security is one of the five conditions that together create an enabling environment for travel and tourism in a country. In 2017, Finland had the highest index score of 6.7 in safety and security, followed by Iceland with an index score of 6.6. On the overall scale from one to seven all the Nordic countries reached an index score of 6.1 or above.

At one end of the scale, 1 represents the worst possible situation; at the other end of the scale, 7 represents the best. The Survey is administered by the World Economic Forum and conducted at national level by the Forum’s network of Partner Institutes."
