Brazil: deaths from ambient PM air pollution 2000-2019
In the second half of the past decade, the number of deaths attributed to ambient particulate matter air pollution (PM2.5) in Brazil increased continuously. In 2019, approximately 43.6 thousand deaths were attributed to this type or air pollution, up from 40 thousand deaths in 2015. Brazil was the Latin American country with the largest number of deaths due to air pollution in 2019.
