
Direct tourism contribution to employment growth in Latin American countries 2019
In 2019, El Salvador registered the highest positive growth rate in direct contribution of the travel and tourism sector to employment in Latin America, with 8.2 percent in relation to the previous year. Venezuela also showed a positive figure of tourism direct contribution to jobs in the country, with a growth rate of 7.4 percent. On the contrary, the direct contribution of the travel and tourism sector to the employment in Suriname dropped by 20.4 percent. Chile, Uruguay, and Bolivia also recorded negative growths that year.
