Both before and after the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the United Kingdom was the leading inbound travel market in France based on the number of overnight stays in hotels. In 2022, British guests spent roughly 8.8 million nights in hotels in France, whereas they recorded nearly 10 million hotel overnight stays in 2019. Meanwhile, hotel overnight stays by German travelers nearly caught up with pre-pandemic levels in 2022.
