The Chinese internet giant Tencent is the bellwether in China's mobile app market. As of December 2021, its owned 442 apps which achieved a combined penetration rate of 94.6 percent among mobile internet users. Together with Alibaba and Baidu, the three homegrown Chinese tech behemoths are widely known as the "BAT" collectively.
