Number of people killed due to road accidents India 2020, by neighborhood
In 2020, the number of people killed due to road accidents in open areas across India was around 70 thousand. Each year, about three to five percent of the GDP of the country was invested in road accidents. About 70 percent of accidents involved young Indians. The country has about one percent of the global vehicle population but it accounted for six percent of the world's road traffic accidents.
