Philippines: growth rate of tourism sectors 2022

The gross value added generated from the tourism industry (GVATI) in the Philippines significant improvements compared to its performance in 2020/21 during the onset of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. Across tourism sectors, accommodation services for visitors accounted for the highest growth rate, followed by country-specific tourism characteristic services such as shopping. Despite growth, both transport and miscellaneous services had the lowest registered growth rate.

According to the source, the gross value added of the tourism industry (GVATI) was derived based on production accounts of tourism industries and other industries and total domestic supply and internal tourism consumption which were computed using the data from the input-output table, input-output survey of Philippine Business and Industry and the National Accounts of the Philippine Statistics Authority.
