More and more production and manufacturing companies in Norway give temporary layoffs to employees due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis. In this sector, 36 percent of the surveyed companies had already carried out employee layoffs, as of March 20, 2020. Some production companies still had close to normal production at that time, and some had already given layoffs to a considerable share of their employees. Several manufacturing companies also announced, that they have just started giving layoffs to employees, and that their situation might get markedly worse by Easter.
